TAMPA, FL (February 3, 2017) – New Orleans born soul and R&B singer, Alicia Williams, is set to release her debut EP, Soul on Fire, on Electric Mermaid Records. The album is set to be released on February 17, 2017, with an album release party at Hula Bay Club (5210 W Tyson Ave, Tampa, FL).
The EP features six original tracks, all written and produced by Williams herself. Williams gathers inspiration from John Legend, Joss Stone, and Prince, and used that inspiration when writing the songs for, Soul On Fire. The sound of the album has been described as Erykah Badu meets Amy Winehouse. “I really opened up my soul with this EP,” says Williams, “These 6 songs were written from the deepest parts of my soul, and are unapologetically me.”
This release is the second release on the newly formed, Electric Mermaid Records. Music business entrepreneur, Holly Walny, formed the label in late 2015. The label features multiple genres including, indie-pop, indie-rock, and indie R&B and hip-hop. CEO, Holly Walny, met Alicia Williams when they both attended Full Sail University in Orlando, FL.
“I wanted to create a label that was free and open to multiple genres,” says Walny, “I have always been attracted to the strength and openness of the sea, and decided to build Electric Mermaid Records around that idea.” Walny’s idea for the label spoke to Williams, and she’s been on board from the beginning. “When I met Holly at Full Sail, I knew that she shared my vision and ideals for music. When she told me she was opening her own label, and wanted me to be one of her first artists, I didn’t even have to think about it,” says Williams.
The release party will keep with the ocean theme of the record label, and will take place at Hula Bay Club, on the Tampa Bay waterfront. Hula Bay Club features an outdoor patio and beachfront view of Tampa Bay, perfect for relaxing, listening to new music, and soaking up beach vibes. Information for the Hula Bay Club release party can be found on Alicia Williams’ social media pages, as well as the Electric Mermaid Records' social media pages.
